A completely original version (original libretto in French by Christian Eymery and original music by Voice Messengers founder Thierry Lalo) of Carlo Collodi's famous 19th century novel, "Pinocchio" is a full jazz opera sung enthusiatically by the CREA youth choir and skillfully recorded in the best studios of Paris. The choir is accompanied by a mainstream jazz sextet (tpt, ts, tb, p, b, dms) that reminds us of the Jazztet, the Jazz Messengers, the Herbie Hancock Quintet, or the Count Basie Orchestra - depending on the atmosphere of each of the 15 pieces that make up this unique French "Jazz Musical" experience.
The swinging city of Paris has once again produced one of the world’s best vocal jazz ensembles. Influenced by the greatest big bands, Thiery Lalo’s Voice Messengers have put together a show-stopping, finger-clicking masterpiece of virtuosic voices accompanied by the capital’s tightest rhythm section. As both soloists and an ensemble, Les Voice Messengers' message is clear: to deliver authentic, stirring, and entertaining jazz that lifts the spirits.
